Getting into tech: Overview
The tech industry can be a challenging field, with a multitude of daily responsibilities to manage. Often, those outside the industry observe tech professionals sitting in front of their screens for 7-8 hours per day, five days a week, without fully understanding the nature of their work, which is characterized by complex code and black screens filled with colorful text. While it is evident that these professionals receive good pay and access to the latest technology and cool office amenities, their day-to-day struggles are not well-known to outsiders.
Over the course of my career as a developer, spanning over a decade, I have worked in various industries, including shipping, outsourcing, fintech, and currently marketing. Through this post and future ones, I aim to share my insights and lessons learned from these experiences, shedding light on the inner workings and hidden realities of these industries, which may not be evident to outsiders. By the end of this series, I hope to provide a comprehensive overview of the dynamics of working in these industries, including the challenges that programmers and tech service providers face.
